The Bas-Congo region is located South of capital city Kinshasa, in the Matadi province, making it one of the provinces where human impact on the natural environment is highest. The main honey flow occurs in June and July and harvesting takes place in August, locally made up smokers are used for harvesting the hives hence the influence of its flavor.
